SPHERE Training of Trainers
Our Human Resources Manager Mr. Mohamed Ibrahim recently took part in a SPHERE Training of Trainers workshop organized by the Training and Capacity Building subgroup of the Inter Agency Working Group (IAWG) for Disaster Preparedness through the second phase of the Emergency Capacity Building (ECB II) project.
The five-day event took place at Nairobi’s Sarova Panafric Hotel from the 6th to the 10th of July 2009. 36 participants comprising of mostly humanitarian advisors, program officers, project managers, technical advisors, and monitoring and evaluation officers were in attendance.
Training focused on agency representatives that had already received basic instruction on SPHERE standards; they were tasked with training a group that would in turn conduct trainings at their respective agencies over the next 12 months. The trained group formed part of a team that would work together to promote quality and accountability in emergency response in the region.
The workshop was a success; all participants left with the intention of putting into practice their newly acquired knowledge and skills.
